What Kind of Fruit Are You Producing?

The question I have been asking myself lately is, “What kind of fruit am I producing?” Sometimes we don’t even realize what we are producing in our lives because we have grown accustomed to it. For example your home has a certain smell unique to your home but you usually can’t smell it because you are nose blind to it.

My question for myself is what fruit am I producing in my life that I have become “nose blind” to? How do I make people feel when they are around me? What is my attitude, body language, and words revealing about my roots?

The fruit that you produce through your attitude, actions, and words are a direct result of where you spend your time and what you give your attention to.

Jesus talked a great deal about what kind of fruit you are to produce in your life. He wants you to sink your roots into Him through prayer and reading your Bible to produce great fruit in your life. God wants great success for you - He even has it planned (Jer. 29:11), but unless you position yourself to receive all He has for you, you won’t realize your true potential.

So, give yourself a little fruit exam:

  • Am I moody?

  • Do I let everyone around me know what I am thinking?

  • Do I complain a lot?

  • When you hear bad news, do you respond with fear and worry?

If you answered yes to the above questions you need to uproot yourself from toxic soil (people, entertainment, etc.) and root yourself deeper in the Word.

John 15 says, Jesus is the vine, we are the branches. We can’t produce good fruit in our lives on our own, we NEED Him. It is not enough to TRY to do better. We don’t have enough substance in ourselves. To produce the Fruit of the Spirit, we have to be rooted in the Spirit.

Action:

  • Start everyday with prayer and reading the Word.

  • Go to church and surround yourself with other believers.

  • Turn off the TV and Social Media for a while.

My prayer for myself and for you comes from Ephesians 3: 14-19, “For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory He may grant you to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith – that you, being ROOTED and GROUNDED in LOVE, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

We need to cultivate the soil of our lives with good things. When we are rooted and ground in Him we will consistently bear good fruit.
