Inside Out

Raise your hand if you have ever gotten to the end of your day and realized that you wore your shirt inside out all day. Unless it’s the style (as it was when I was young to wear sweatshirts inside out), It’s embarrassing to think how many people saw you that day and maybe noticed but didn’t say anything.
Although our clothes weren’t meant to be worn inside out, we should endeavor to live our lives inside out. What do I mean by that? Well, we should be led and directed by the Holy Spirit living on the inside of us rather than what our feelings or what any outside source is telling us.
We naturally function every day by our five physical senses. We rely on them and use them to enjoy life to the fullest. The body is truly amazing in all of its functions. It is obviously needed to navigate this world and protect us from harm. It is also used to enjoy this life we are living.
Just like an astronaut needs a spacesuit to navigate in space, we need our “earth suit” here on earth. Now, does the astronaut in the spacesuit rely on the suit to make the decisions on what is required to be done? No, of course not. (unless there is a malfunction in the suit) It’s the man or woman inside that controls what he or she is doing. The suit’s purpose is for protection and to assist the astronaut.
Our bodies were only designed for the same purpose - to help us navigate through this life and protect us from harm. So why do we rely so heavily on our senses and act upon how we feel more than what our spirit is telling us?
It is time that we learn to live from the inside out. Please don’t rely solely on information that your body gives you, but instead, use that information as a guide. Tell yourself when you will exercise or when you will spend time in the Word. Listen to God to help govern and direct your path each day. Psalm 119:105 reads, “Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.” The Word will illuminate the path that you should take, but it is still your choice to make your feet move down that path. Without guidance from the Word, your body will take you down the wrong path every time. Don’t let your body take you on a roller coaster ride but base your choices and actions from your recreated sprit on the inside of you.
Speak and act on what the Word says - live by faith and not by sight (or your other four senses)! Live inside out, letting God live big in you today!
