More Than a Conqueror

The blood of Jesus can be found in Genesis through Revelation. The power of that blood flows throughout all of history, pointing to our redemption. Some parts of the Old Testament describe Jesus without question, as in Isaiah 53. At the same time, other events are a type and shadow of Jesus.

It All Points to Jesus

For example, the event of Noah and the big flood was not just about Noah, his family, and the sin plaguing the world then. The ark is a type and shadow of Jesus – that through and IN Him we are saved.

Look at the event of Abraham offering Isaac, his first and beloved son, to God out of obedience and honor. This incredible act of faith in the Almighty is the catalyst in which God created a covenant with Abraham and made way for Jesus.

As God sought to honor His covenant with His people, the law involving animal sacrifice was given as a means to have fellowship with them once again. However, no amount of animal sacrifices could breach the gap that was made by Adam and Eve’s sin. THE spotless Lamb, Jesus, is the only one able to redeem God’s people.

Exodus 12:5-7 reads, “Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year. You may take it from the sheep or from the goats. Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month. Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight. And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.”

This was part of the law of the Passover. The blood on the door posts and lintel protected those on the inside. This was a type and shadow of the precious blood of Jesus poured out for all of us. When we apply His blood, we are protected just as the children of Israel. You could say, “Where the blood is applied, the devil is denied!” Praise God!

Isaiah 1:18 says, “’Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’”

Jesus came once and for all to cleanse our sins and make us white as snow. Only through Him can we have access to and a relationship with God. I’m so thankful for the blood that Jesus poured out for us!

Liquid Love

The blood of Jesus does more than help us overcome things in our lives. It enables us to conquer them. Paul declares in Romans 8:31-39, “What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall he not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written: ‘For your sake we are killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.’ Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

There is a lot in these verses for us to unpack:

  • First of all, the question posed is, if God is for YOU, who can be against you? I love that! God is for you. He loves you and has hope and a future for you.

  • Your redemption is a free gift, and with it came the blessings of heaven for us to enjoy during our life here on earth and into eternity.

  • Jesus died, but He didn’t stay there! We celebrate an empty tomb that signifies victory for you and me as well.

  • No matter what comes against us in this lifetime, we are MORE THAN conquerors through Jesus and His blood. That’s why we can refer to the blood as liquid love. It was shed for us out of pure love so that we can rule and reign as heirs in His kingdom.

  • Nothing can separate us from His love. It doesn’t matter what you have done or where you go. His love reaches you and will free you from whatever the devil has bound you with. John 10:10 says that the devil comes to steal, kill, and destroy. BUT Jesus came to give us abundant life.

Apply the blood over your life, and you will be more than a conqueror through Him who loves you.
