Spiritual "Buyers Remorse"

Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. Hebrews 10:23

We had a foreign student live with us for a year. He was a wonderful young man and we fell in love with him immediately. His one quirk was he suffered buyer's remorse before he ever purchased something. He would find something he liked and then agonize over whether to buy it or not. I started taking him "speed shopping". I would take him to a store and make him buy something fast. We would return it the next week if he really didn't like it, then do the whole exercise all over again.

Many Christians suffer "buyers remorse" when it comes to the things of God. They are so afraid of making a mistake that they spend all their time going back and forth and end up not making a decision. This is training time, and training means mistakes will be made. Any athlete knows that practice time is learning time. Mistakes will be made, but new skills will be developed. Develop a singleness of mind concerning the things of God. Find what the word says and go with it.

I remember when I first started out in faith, my faith wasn't developed enough to stay well, so I was sick in faith. Over the years my faith got stronger and stronger, to the point that cancer couldn't rock my boat.
