Satan's Twisted Words
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18
This verse is such a good illustration of twisted Word that it needs to be dealt with. When Jesus was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil, He started using the Word to combat the temptations; Satan also used the word, but it was a twisted word.
I think everyone of us has heard this verse quoted "Pride goes before a fall." We've probably all said it before, but it's wrong. I googled this verse and it said "Pride goes before destruction". This may sound a little too picky, but if we don't take the time and effort to get this right, what else are we getting wrong? Pride is the outcome of being haughty or arrogant. Proverbs says a haughty spirit goes before a fall, not Pride. Pride goes before destruction, which is much worse than a fall!
Satan is out to destroy you and I. That is his one goal. One tool he uses is twisted words. Satan has gotten the body of Christ to believe that Pride goes before a fall, but we have inadvertently opened the door to destruction simply because we haven't taken the time to see the truth.
