Correct Depiction of God

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

There are a lot of good people out there who love God, but live in fear of suffering His wrath if they do something wrong. If God was that way, would any of us even be here today? Thoughts of doing us harm aren't part of His thought process.

There are instances in the Old Testament where God seemed to cause destruction on people but that wasn't the case at all. People in those days worshiped everything they heard about, and God was willing to take the blame for things He didn't do to keep them from worshiping Satan. In fact, you will see Satan mentioned very little. He was the same evil entity then as he is now.

In the tumultuous times we are living in, isn't it comforting to know that God is thinking only good thoughts toward His children? If we would spend more time focusing on the goodness of God instead of the evil in the world, we would develop a whole new outlook on the times we live in.
