Time Well Spent
But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." James 1:22
Jesus spoke a parable about two men who built houses. One man took his time building a foundation out of solid rock while the other man took the easy route and got his house up fast. You know the story. Both men heard the word. The one man took it to heart and built his life around that word. The other man listened to the word but never applied it to his life. Both men faced the same storms of life. The man who built his life around the word survived the storm totally intact, while the other man lost everything he had. This man deceived himself into thinking God would protect him simply because he listened to the word and loved God.
There are people in church today who are born-again believers who love Jesus, but haven't applied His word to their lives much beyond getting saved; who, unfortunately, will be ravaged by the storms of life. It takes time to apply the word to your life, but it is time well spent.
