He's a Good Father

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:32

No one on this earth could ever out give God. He gave His only begotten Son to die, go to hell, and pay the penalty of sin for us. If He went to that degree out of love for us, why should we ever think that He would withhold any good thing from us.

Romans 8:32 tells us that it is through Jesus that He can freely give us all things. Jesus bridged the gap of separation from God and humanity. He opened the path for God to have a relationship with us and continue giving into our lives. God’s provision for us is really about His relationship with us.

James 1:17 says, “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.” There isn’t even a shadow of Him withholding His blessing from us. So, why are we not living in the full blessing that He has provided? Clearly it’s not on His end. As we have learned there is a cycle of giving. We stop the cycle when we get greedy, spend our tithe on other things, or keep our money or material things when God has told us to give.

Malachi 3:8 says, “Will a man rob God? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘in what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.” Of course this verse isn’t talking about robbing God of money. Again, God is not concerned about money or things. However, He does care about your heart and well-being. The verse is talking about us robbing Him of the opportunity to pour out His blessing into our lives.

Now, because God is good and gracious, He blesses our lives with so many good things regardless of what we do for Him. He gave the most precious gift, Jesus, without us giving Him anything first. But there is more! Don’t limit God from working in your life by shutting the door of abundant blessings.

Some people will actually argue that God is not good all the time. But He is. He is nothing but good – all the time! And He wants to freely give you all good things.

Dear Lord, thank you for being such a good God and Father. Teach me how to receive all that you have for my life. Amen.
