What He's Done
For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:21
Jesus didn’t just die for your sins; He BECAME sin that we might BECOME righteous. Righteousness means to have right standing with God. In other words, we are able to be in God’s presence and have fellowship with Him once again.
2 Corinthians 5:18-19 says, “Now all things are of God who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.”
The word reconcile means to restore to friendship or harmony, and that is exactly what happened when Jesus shed His blood on the cross. He enabled us to regain our friendship and fellowship with God. We are brought back into harmony with the way God intended for our relationship to be.
Therefore, our responsibility is to live out that reconciled life and bring others into right relationship with God as well. Verse 20 of this chapter says, “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.” We are now ambassadors for God. An ambassador is sent to another country with the backing and support of their homeland. Our “homeland” is now the Kingdom of God, and we are ambassadors for God from His Kingdom to this earthly kingdom that we live in.
As an ambassador, we ought to be telling people about the good news of the Gospel and living it out for ourselves. (There should be a noticeable difference in our lives.)
Tell someone about the goodness of God today. Let your life be a testimony of what reconciliation to God looks like. Remember, we don’t have to have it all figured out and know the Bible front to back before telling someone about what Jesus has done. How has been reconciled to God, saved and made clean by the blood of Jesus changed your life? Please share in the comments below as well.
Father God, thank you for sending Jesus to die for me so that I can have a relationship with You. Help me show others the way to You and how they can be changed as well. Amen.
