Seeking His Face

He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol, nor sworn deceitfully. He shall receive blessing from the Lord, And righteousness from the God of his salvation. Psalms 24:4-5

Blessings await those who come to God–who seek Him with their whole hearts. Jeremiah 29:13 says, “and you will seek Me and find Me, when you search Me with all your heart.” The blessing of the Lord is found in His presence – abiding in Him and seeking His face.

I’m sure we all can relate to a time when we hadn’t seen a loved one or friend for a really long time. As the months, days, and even hours get closer to seeing that person again, our excitement is almost too much to handle. I remember when our kids were little, they hadn’t seen my parents in a long time. The enthusiasm for Grandma and Papa to arrive was almost too much to handle. When we went to the airport to pick them up, our kids searched every new plane arrival for their grandparents. When they finally arrived, our youngest son, who was a year old, couldn’t contain himself. He giggled and ran as fast as his little legs could carry him (past security) to the arms of who he was seeking and who he knew loved him.

That is the same expectation and excitement we should have about spending time with our Father God every day. Do you wake up longing to be in His presence? I tell you what, the more time you spend with Him, the more time you want to spend with Him. His presence is life-giving, making each day you spend with Him just better.

Jesus says in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in Him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” The blessing is not just “extra goodness” from God that we can live without. We can do nothing worth anything without Him. In fact, everything that we do without God in it is worthless.

If you haven’t started a morning routine of spending time with God, I encourage you to download the Seek Him Devotional Journal Guide. It will guide you through your devotion time and teach you how to read and study the Word of God.

Make God a priority today – you won’t regret it!

Dear Lord, thank you for your love and blessing in my life. I purpose to seek you more and more every day. Amen
