You Are God's Favorite
For You, O Lord, will bless the righteous; With favor You will surround him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12
If you have given your heart to the Lord, the promise of this verse is available for you. You qualify to be blessed with favor! Believe me, God's favor is something you want to be blessed with!
Have you ever been someone's favorite? You get the feeling that you can't do anything wrong. Maybe you even get special privileges and little perks that others may not. When I was younger, I suppose the "teacher's pet" label would have applied to me. I certainly wasn't manipulative, but I knew how to get on a teacher's good side. To me, that's just being smart!
I had a teacher in high school that made me feel like I couldn't do any wrong. In my eyes, I was his favorite student. I know it wasn't just me that felt like that, but almost every student had him. He just loved kids, and you knew it. It's the same thing with God. You should feel like you are His favorite child – because you are! He loves each of us so much and gives His favor to all who will accept it.
As a teacher myself now, there are students who I would love to help, but they don't want to receive it. It's almost as if some kids don't want the attention to obtain a little extra help. If we're honest with ourselves, there are times that we don't want to receive God's help either. Maybe it feels we're being too selfish – that God's attention would be better spent on someone else. But YOU are His favorite, and He wants to lavish on you His goodness and grace, which is His favor. So, let God surround you with the blessing of His favor today.
Dear Lord, thank you for the blessing of favor on my life that surrounds me like a shield today. Amen.
