A Strong Woman
Strength and honor are her clothing; She shall rejoice in time to come. Proverbs 31:25
I believe the most beautiful characteristic of a woman is when she is strong and confident in the Lord. There is no stopping a woman or a man who knows who they are not in themselves but in Christ.
In a day when Christianity and Biblical ideals are questioned or labeled “old fashioned,” it takes courage to stand for godly principles. It takes strength to stand firm against the current of what the world says you should be. Of course, the devil does his best to make us feel alone and out of place. He would like nothing more but for us to bend to the sinful culture of the world.
However, as Christian women, we are to uphold the truth of Jesus. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. His truth never changes. A strong and honorable woman upholds the Word of God above everything else. She’s not afraid to listen and obey God’s voice in her life. She seeks the Lord for herself and her household. She respects, honors, and helps her husband. She provides godly wisdom for her children and trains them to have their own relationship with God.
I think it’s interesting that the book of Proverbs, the book of wisdom, ends with the wisdom of a godly woman. The strength of a woman who knows who she is in Christ is unstoppable. I like what the amplified Bible says, “Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices over the future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness for it]!” The NLT version says, “she laughs without fear of the future.”
To me, that is the perfect picture of a strong, confident, and courageous woman – one who laughs without fear of the future. She isn’t strong and confident in herself, but rather her strength comes from abiding in Jesus Christ.
Dear Lord, thank you for Jesus. I thank you that I don’t have to be afraid of this world and the future because He lives in me, and I live and abide in Him. Amen.
