Approved to God
Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Timothy 2:15
The Bible covers many subjects and situations, but did you know that it even addresses how we are to act in our work environment? It actually has a lot to say on the subject, including this verse which tells us that we need to work for our employer as we would work for God.
I know that working as unto God is easier said than done at times. Harsh work environments or doing jobs that we don’t like put walking in love to the test. However, when we work as unto God, it means that our character and integrity should be at their best at all times.
I believe how we perform on the job is directly tied to supernatural promotions. Look at Joseph in the Bible. It didn’t matter if he was in the palace or the prison. He served with integrity – serving man as unto God. God took notice and made sure that Joseph was promoted to the place and position he was called to.
I once had a job that tested my integrity, and love walk every day. The work environment was stressful on every level possible – physically, mentally, and spiritually. However, I felt that as I was faithful in the small things that no one else might notice, God saw me and saw my heart. Soon after having that job, my husband and I went into the ministry. I believe that some of the things I went through (although God didn’t cause them to happen) tested my faith and my faithfulness to God.
Maybe your employer is hard to work for. Perhaps you have been mistreated. Whatever the case, I want you to know that God sees you. If you are faithful in the little things, He will make sure you are promoted.
Dear Lord, help me serve my employer and coworkers with love and integrity as unto You. Amen.
