Length of Days
My son, do not forget my law, but let your heart keep my commands; for length of days and long life and peace they will add to you. Proverbs 3:1-2
Every once in a while I'll see something in the Word that just jumps out at me. This is one of those times. This isn't a deep revelation, but it is something to ponder.
An expression that people use a lot is, "There just isn't enough time in the day!" Perhaps you have said that yourself a time or two. I was reading these verses the other day, and what jumped out at me were the words "length of days" and "long life." I always thought long life and length of days were synonymous, and they might be. But what if they are separate thoughts? What if attending to God's word could add more time to your day?
Now we all know there are 24 hours in a day, no more and no less. But what if putting the word first would allow you to accomplish more in a day than you normally could? What if you could get a particular job done faster by just spending some time with God and getting His input before you start that job?
