Honoring Your Parents
Honor your father and mother, which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:2&3
Honor is hard to come by these days. We tend to set conditions for it. "I will honor my parents as long as they do right". God doesn't see it that way. He said, "Honor your father and mother." Nothing was mentioned about giving honor only if they are worthy of it.
Both of my parents have moved to heaven, but I am still their child, and I never stop being their son. I honor them simply because they are my parents. I honor their lives, I honor them in memory, and I honor them in legacy. The promise of a well-lived and long life is mine as long as I honor my parents. The last thing I want is to stand before God one day and have Him ask me why I didn't honor my parents. That's something to think about.
