Speaking the Result You Want
Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit. Proverbs 18:21
I was working one day, and my leg started to hurt. I honestly had never experienced anything like this before or since. I sat down and made a mental assessment. I hadn't done anything, but what started out as a limp a few minutes before, now I was dragging my foot around, and the pain was even more intense. As I was contemplating my next move, thoughts of going home or to the doctor started flying through my mind. At this point, I hadn't verbalized anything I was thinking.
I came to the realization that I hadn't done anything wrong and that this was simply an attack on my body. I looked at my foot and pointed at it, declaring there was nothing wrong with it. As quickly as I spoke those words, the pain left, and full motion returned, and I continued my day as if nothing had happened.
2 Corinthians 10:5 tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. Just because you think it doesn't mean you have to say it! Speak the results you want, not the feelings you have.
