Rightly Dividing the Word

"Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2:15

I know I have said this before, but if the word can be rightly divided, it can be wrongly divided. People tend to get the word part right, just by reading posts and comments on Facebook. Case in point, I read a post the other day that God loves everyone. No argument here; that's a true statement. They went on to say that we need to accept everyone because God does. You won't find that statement anywhere in the Bible because it's not true.

When Jesus was hanging on the cross, God was with Him every step of the way right until He became sin, taking on Himself the sin of the world. At that point, God turned His back on Jesus, and He experienced complete separation from His Father for the first and only time. God loves people, but He can have no fellowship with sin. If God calls something sin, it's sin. No amount of reasoning on our part is going to change His mind. It's our job to accept and grow in the knowledge of God, not pick and choose only the parts we like.
