An Act of Love

"The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender." Proverbs 22:7

If you go back to Genesis, God gave man dominion over the whole earth. The one thing God didn't give man dominion over was other men. This whole area of finance runs on borrowing and lending, making one person a servant to another. This relationship is different from, say, political authority in that it is done voluntarily. One person willingly puts themselves under another person.

There is nothing that ends a relationship quicker than putting money in the middle. Several years ago, I made the decision not to loan anything. Instead, I would give it. It made it so much simpler. Also, it became an act of love instead of a business transaction.
