Hungry

"For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness." Psalm 107:9

I must admit that there was a time when I honestly thought that the Bible talked a lot about food. I really wanted to know more about God, but I didn't know where to turn. I'm pleased to say that God heard the cries of my heart. As it turns out, the Bible talks very little about food. As in this verse, the term 'hungry soul' refers to someone who is desiring the deeper truths God has for those who will seek them out.

Moving deeper into the things of God is not mysterious, but it does take desire and the rewards; well, they are out of this world! Food does offer some great analogies, though. Take pizza, for instance. I think I'm safe in saying everyone likes pizza! Let's say you just ate your very favorite pizza, with all the right ingredients, baked in a brick oven. It was the perfect pizza. You never need to eat it again because you have your memories of it, right? WRONG!! You want it again and again.

So it is with hungering for the word of God. You can have as much as you want, and there's still room for more!
