Talking to Objects

There is a misconception that Jesus told the tree to die. He didn't do that. In fact, He really didn't care if the tree lived or died. Jesus set the rules, and the tree had to decide where to go from there. What do trees do? They bear fruit. Because the tree couldn't bear fruit, which it was designed to do, it chose to die.

This begs the question, 'Do things hear us?' Yes, they do. We all talk to things, but do we expect them to do what we say? The difference is words spoken and words spoken in faith, expecting to see what we speak.

We were putting new tires on a log skidder one time. The best way to do this is to mount the new tires right on the machine. The skidder operator and tire man were going nowhere fast. They couldn't get the tire to mount properly and kept trying. This went on for two hours while I continued cutting trees. On my fourth time passing this melodrama, I could see they needed help. As I walked by the machine, I just laid a hand on it and commanded the tire to fill properly in the name of Jesus. I didn't get 30 feet away when I heard a loud 'pop'. The tire was done.

Those other guys never knew what I did; I just kept walking with a big smile on my face. We all are guilty of talking to objects, so you might as well use faith-filled words expecting results!
