Using What You Have

Anyone who has ever gone to Sunday school has heard this story. We know how the oil kept flowing as long as there were empty vessels to fill, and the oil stopped when there were no more empty vessels. The real story here is that what you need, you already possess!

Too often, we look at what we don't have, not what we have. If you have a need, why do you look at what you don't have to fill a need?

I met a lady a few months ago who had a business with several employees. She worked at a coal mine and found herself laid off a few years ago. Instead of just collecting unemployment and eating potato chips, she took stock of everything she had. She had a lawnmower and some yard tools. The day after her layoff, she was in the lawn care business. Today, that is going strong and has grown into a thriving firewood business. She is back at the coal mine and continues to run her business.

Too many people, when faced with a challenge, keep their focus on what they have instead of what they have. Way too many Christians have the idea that God is just going to bring them answers while they sit and wait.

I have always admired my oldest son because he always does something. Anytime life hands him a curveball, he turns it into a home run. That's the way we all should be. Do what you know to do, and let God add His super to your natural.
