God's Protection

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Psalm 91:1

I have made the 91st Psalm part of my confession session for years. The only times I have had stuff happen to me is when I would forget or just being lazy. God's protection is sure but it's not automatic.

Whenever I meditate on this verse, I get the mental image of a mother hen who gathers all her chicks under her wings for protection. That is exactly how God treats us. He wants to be our protector from anything and anyone that would do us harm. The thing is, we have to stay there if we want His protection. We need to be where He is because he's not going to chase us down.

I encourage you to make Psalm 91, the whole chapter, a part of your daily routine. Let it get so real to you that you don't need to run to God when trouble comes, you are already under His protection.
