Need For Endurance

For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise. Hebrews 10:36

We live in an instant world. Information is at our fingertips whenever we want it. We are able to turn on the news and see events as they are happening. If a business isn't an instant success it is ended. A new movie that doesn't have a great first weekend is a dud. We want microwaves to go faster.

Here's a news flash, God is not moved by our need for speed. If you desire to follow Jesus, you better not be in a hurry. God promised Abraham a child and it only took 20 years. I won't even pretend to know why. How long are you willing to wait to see God move in your life? If your answer is anything but "As long as it takes,” you have need of endurance!

A few weeks ago, God quickened me to give some firewood away. It was my seed for a harvest. I held onto it longer than I would have liked for the right person to come along. I got a call from someone in another state who wanted wood for his 80-year-old neighbor. I immediately knew this was who I was waiting for. I didn't have a clue God would connect me with someone so far away, and it took time to put the logistics together. I am seeing the harvest almost daily. What if I would have gotten out ahead of God and missed His connection? This is endurance in action.
