A Life Well-Pleasing to God

But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. Matthew 24:36

Jesus' return has to be the best kept secret of all time. There has been so much speculation about this over the course of time. Why is this such a secret? If the precise day and time of the return of Jesus was known, what would be the incentive to live a life pleasing to God? Why not just live like the devil until that time?

The problem with that thinking is none of us knows when our time is up here on earth. Something that goes along with this is that God has a set time limit for everyone's life. I have a problem with that line of thinking because it doesn't line up with the whole of scripture.

I have chosen for myself to live each day as if it's the last day of my life, to be well-pleasing to God.
