It Boils Down to Pride
For we dare not class ourselves or compare ourselves with those who commend themselves. But they, measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10:12
Jesus listened to a priest pray, telling God how good he was, and made this statement, 'Thus he prayed with himself.' God has very little time for people who are full of themselves. There are athletes, business people, politicians, and "friends" who build themselves up by tearing other people down. This is bad enough with people in the world, but this is the way some Christians act. It boils down to pride.
If my Christian journey causes me to look down on other people, then I have taken a wrong turn somewhere. I hear people talk about how they are right and other people are wrong. I have very little time to listen to someone talk bad about another person. It is unfortunate when ministries talk bad about other ministries.
Nobody has it all right and nobody has it all wrong. We can get so focused on being 'right', that we lose sight of the mission. If people look at us and don't see Jesus, we are doing something wrong.
