Faith in Gods Promises

And Abraham said to his young men, "Stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you." Genesis 22:5

God had told Abraham to offer Isaac as a sacrifice. It was Abraham's full intention to fulfill God's command on this day. I love the faith involved in this verse. Abraham was going to kill Isaac, but he also knew that Isaac was a child of promise. It was through Isaac that God's promise to him that he would be the father of many nations would be fulfilled. That promise was being put to the test on this day. Abraham fully expected God to raise Isaac from the dead, which is why he told his men that THEY would be back.

When we are in a faith battle, it is vital that we hold onto the word of God like our lives depend on it. We need to be fully persuaded that God meant business when He declared His promises and wrote them down for us in His word, no matter how impossible they seem.
