Righteousness Does Prevail

He(Jehoram) was thirty-two years old when he became king. He reigned in Jerusalem for eight years and, to no one's sorrow, departed. However, they buried him in the city of David, but not in the tombs of the kings. 2 Chronicles 21:20

I don't really find anything spiritually significant about this verse, but I do find it rather humorous. There have been a lot of changes over the centuries. Manufacturing, farming, technology, transportation, and communication have all seen significant advances.

One thing that has never changed is the human condition. There have always been good people and scoundrels. There have been good leaders and bad. Jehoram, unfortunately, was a really bad person and a terrible king. His father, king Jehoshaphat, was a good man who loved God and endeavored to do the right things in the sight of God and man. Where Jehoram picked up his evil ways is anybody's guess.

As long as there have been governments, positions of authority have been filled by good people and bad. What we are seeing in the world today is nothing new. The good news is righteousness does prevail, and God does protect His children!
