It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8

Psalm 118 begins by saying, “Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Do you know what giving thanks does for us? It ushers us into the presence of God and opens our hearts to hear His voice. Giving thanks helps change our perspective and puts us in a position to receive from Him.

We often default to trusting others or ourselves more than God because we default to our five physical senses – what we can hear and touch around us. It takes effort to turn our attention away from the noise around us and listen for the truth of Jesus.

What God tells us often doesn’t make sense to our minds because we can’t see the whole picture. Have you ever put together a puzzle and had a piece that didn’t look like it fit? Maybe you thought the colors didn’t match up or the shape didn’t look right, so you set the piece aside. When the piece finally falls into place, it’s a little bit of a shock.

That’s how it is to trust God over our partial knowledge. God can see the whole picture – the beginning to the end. He is the alpha and omega! Sometimes when God gives you the next piece of the puzzle of your life, you might think that it doesn’t fit – He must have gotten it wrong. This is where trust comes in.

I want to challenge you to get into the presence of God by giving thanks to Him. Trust that He sees the whole picture and will make every part fall into place to create a beautiful picture.
