You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3

It’s a simple fact that you will go in the direction you are looking. So, the question becomes, where are you looking? What has your attention? As a result, are you anxious or at peace?

There are so many things that are vying for our attention. The word, busy, seems to be the standard description of our lives. It’s no wonder that anxiety is on the rise. We run from one activity to the next, and then when we have a break, many people mindlessly scroll through social media or watch Netflix for hours on end. On a side note: Did you know that spending time on social media actually increases anxiety?

However, our verse for today contains a promise. If you stay focused on Jesus, you will be in perfect peace. He is the Prince of Peace. Thinking Him and abiding in Him will give you clarity about everything else in your life.

This verse describes why there is peace when we keep our mind on Jesus. It’s not just because your attention is on Him, but it also means that you trust Him. I have to be honest that I don’t watch the news a whole lot. Much of the news today is full of fear and anxiety. Instead, I trust God that He will take care of me and show me the path to take for my life.

Take a little inventory of your life today. If you’re not in perfect peace, take notice of what has your attention and make the adjustments to keep your eyes on Jesus.

Father, help me to keep my eyes focused on you and stay in your perfect peace. Amen.
