The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalm 27:1
If you have God in your life, you win! Game over! Throw the confetti! There is nothing that can defeat you or derail you. What is there to be afraid of when God is on your side?
There is a song by Olivia Newton-John, that I used to sing in a show I was entitled, “You Light Up My Life.” The lyrics say, “You light up my life, you give me hope to carry on. You light up my days and fill my nights with song.” Yes, this is a love song (fitting for Valentine’s today). But our love song and devotion should be directed at God as well. He IS the light and brings that light to every situation you face. Again, what do you have to be afraid of when He is in you and for you.
1 John 4:4 says, “You are of God, little children, and have overcome them because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” You have the greater one on the inside of you today. Let that sink in. Think about what it means to have the greater one in you. Don’t let your emotions tell you that you are defeated. Don’t let others tell you it’s over. And certainly don’t allow yourself to speak gloom and doom over your situation.
If God is for you, who can be against you? (Rom. 8:31) His Word will light your path and give you strength. Put your whole trust in Him, and He will turn your situation around!
One of my pastors would say, “I cannot be defeated, and I will not quit!” You might need to adopt that saying for yourself. You cannot be defeated if you do not quit. Jesus already has the victory. All you have to do is walk with your head held high (like an Olympic gold medal winner) and proclaim that you have the victory!
There is nothing to be afraid of when you put your full trust in God.
Dear Lord, give me the revelation and understanding of what it means to have the Greater One on the inside of me. Help me walk in my victory today. Amen.
