Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’ Isaiah 12:2
Did you know that salvation means much more than a ticket to heaven? I am so thankful that my eternal residence is secure, but what about life here and now? There is another part of salvation that maybe isn't talked about much.
The other part of salvation, why we can trust God, is consecration. You see, salvation is about a relationship, meaning everything you have is mine and what I have is yours. When you give your mess to Him, He will give His peace, strength, help, and so much more to you.
Consecration is your part of the covenant relationship with God. It is making Him the Lord of your life. A Lord is someone who has power and authority and to whom service and obedience are due. When He directs you to do something, your response should be willing and obedient. Isaiah 1:19 says, "If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land." That comes down to trusting Him.
Do you trust that God is looking out for you and has your best interest at heart? As a parent, we instruct our kids to do many things that they don't perceive as important. How many times did (or do) you have to remind your kids to brush their teeth? You give them all kinds of instructions to better their lives, but they don't believe the task they have to do will be better for them. They don't have the maturity to see the long-term benefits.
I hate to admit how I sometimes react to God's instructions in my life. I'm sure it seems to God like a child not wanting to brush their teeth! Maybe I don't see the value of forgiving someone or walking in love. But God is faithful and true to us. We can trust that He will never put us in harm's way but be our strength and song all the days of our lives.
Dear Lord, I consecrate myself to you. I trust you and purpose to be willing and obedient to your instructions in my life. Amen.
