A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord directs his steps. Proverbs 16:9
I love everything about planning – making lists of my to-do’s and checking them off. I admit sometimes I write something I have already done to have the satisfaction of marking it as complete. I like to sit down with my planner each week and make my plan of attack if you will. One thing I always do is to ask God for guidance.
I have my list of things to accomplish, but I always want to leave room for God to direct my steps each day. I never want to become too rigid with my schedule that I don’t hear His voice of direction. It really is fun to plan your days with the help of the Lord. It will help build your trust in Him when you stay in constant contact, making minor corrections along the way.
When we are open to hearing the voice of God, we are available to be His hands and feet in this world. One of the habits I am currently trying to practice is asking God who He would like me to reach out and connect with. Who can I send a text, voice mail, or a card with a word of appreciation or encouragement? I want to impact someone every day – to show the love of God to others.
Maybe you can challenge yourself with that as well. Ask God each day who you could encourage and show the love of God through you. Be open and available for God to direct your steps today.
Dear Lord, help to hear your voice each day and be quick to do what you would have me to do. Amen
