My soul, wait silently for God alone, for my expectation is from Him. Psalm 62:5
There is so much noise in the world – voices vying for our attention. We also have false expectations stemming from social media that tell us what our houses should look like, how we should dress, what we should eat, etc. Essentially, we are told how we should think.
There is some good information out there, so how do we know what voices to listen to and where we should give our attention? Well, the number one voice we need to listen to is God’s voice. The Holy Spirit will guide us in what we need on the inside of us. The primary way we hear His voice is through the Bible. If you would like to know more about hearing the voice of God, you can read 6 Tips to Hear God’s Voice.
Our expectations for our lives should be found in Him. He is our measuring stick for what is right and good. The chapter goes on to say in verse eight, “Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.” God never changes with the latest fads. We can trust that what He has to say is correct and valid. His word will never waver.
When your world seems noisy, quiet your soul and wait on God. Trust that you can and will hear His voice and His direction for you. Then expect that He will lead you, guide you, and be with you every step of the way.
Dear Lord, help me quiet my soul and trust your voice and direction for all my days. Amen
