I Can Only Imagine
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
I am convinced there is no way we can comprehend how amazing the gift of eternal life is. It’s hard for us to imagine that there is no end. It is even said, “all good things must come to an end.” But eternal life is the best thing that will ever happen to Christians, and it will never come to an end. In fact, 1 Cor. 2:9 says, “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” We can’t even begin to think big enough.
Even though I can’t come close to what heaven will be like, I enjoy dreaming about it. We know that we will live in mansions – Jesus said so in John 14:2. Jesus said, “In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” God knows me better than I know myself. I can’t wait to see what my mansion looks like. In scripture, we also see that the streets are paved with pure gold, and the twelve gates are each made of a pearl. (Rev. 21:21)
Wow! What a place! And to think it is all for you and me. In addition, Revelation 21:4 says, “And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.”
On the flip side, if you haven’t made Jesus the Lord of your life, there is a real place called hell. Words can’t express how dreadfully awful hell is, and it too will last for eternity. That’s why you don’t want to put off salvation, thinking that “someday” you will give Jesus your life. Secure your citizenship in heaven today by praying this prayer:
Dear Lord,
I recognize that I’m a sinner in need of You, the Savior. I ask you to forgive me of my sins and cleanse me from the inside out. I confess that You are my Lord and put my complete trust in You. Take my life and do something amazing with it. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
