Angels Among Us

For He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone. Psalms 91:11-12

The 91st Psalm is a beautiful Psalm of protection for you and your loved ones. It is imperative to pray over our military and first responders as well.

This verse, in particular, talks about the role of angels in keeping us safe. Many times we joke about our guardian angels working overtime or saving us from an accident, but do you actually believe that you have angels watching over you? Whether you believe it or not, it’s true. Like this verse says, “He shall give His angels charge over you.”

This has to be one of the coolest provisions from God - your very own angel! Each of us was assigned an angel the moment we were born into this world. I recall each of my babies looking beyond me with a big smile on their faces. I just knew their angel was smiling at them. It always gave me comfort to know that they were watching over them.

We all could probably share many angel encounter stories of either seeing or knowing an angel was there to help you. When I was in 7th grade, my family had an undeniable angel encounter. It was dark and snowy when our car slid off the road and got stuck. My parents weren’t sure what they would do when all-of-a-sudden a truck showed up. A man came up to the car wearing coveralls and asked if he could help my dad. He had exactly what my dad needed in his truck to get us pulled out. When we were back on the road, my dad went to thank the man, but he was nowhere to be seen. The next day my mom made some cookies to thank this mystery man, hoping to find his house around where we got stuck, but no one had seen a man or truck with that description.

God gave the angel charge over us in that situation, but we also can give the angels charge over us and our situations. I always pray angels around my vehicle when I’m traveling or in any other case where I need protection. I’ve given them an extra charge to protect my kids as well.

Remember this magnificent gift of provision from God. We certainly have angels among us, so put them to work in your life today.

Dear Lord, thank you for sending angels to help me and keep me in all my ways. I trust that I’m fully protected today. Amen.
