He is a Rewarder
Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart! Psalm 119:2
The message that I find myself coming back to time and time again is to seek Him with our whole hearts. Hebrew 11:6 says, “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarded of those who diligently seek Him.” There is a reward for diligently seeking the Lord day in and day out.
Have you ever noticed that when you make time to read your Bible and pray in the morning, your day just runs better? It is amazing how different the day feels. Instead of feeling like you are playing “catch-up,” you have a better handle on the day and sense your purpose.
Your outlook will be much better when you focus on Jesus first. Jesus taught in Matthew 6:33, “Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” What things was He talking about? Well, if you read the rest of the chapter, He is talking about the everyday things we tend to worry about, or that can take our attention and focus. We waste so much time on trivial things that we miss out on what really matters.
There is an illustration that really brings home the point. If you fill a bucket with different sizes of rocks, one of two things will happen. If you start with the little rocks and then add the big ones, there isn’t room for the big rocks – they won’t fit. However, if you start with the big rocks and add the smaller ones, it will all fit. The same is true in our days. If you begin your day by scrolling social media or answering emails, or starting your to-do list, you’re going to get to the end of your day and be too tired to read your Bible and pray. However, if you begin your day in the Word, everything else will fall into place. Things that you need to get done will be easier than usual. It will almost feel like your time is multiplied – which we all could use, right?
I want to challenge you to seek God first in your day. If you have to get up a little earlier, do it! You won’t be disappointed because God is a rewarder for those who diligently seek Him.
Dear Lord, I want to seek you first in my day, for I know you bless those who diligently seek you. Amen.
