Act Justly

Blessed are those who keep justice, and he who does righteousness at all times! Psalm 106:3

We have been made the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. There isn’t anything we can do to earn our way into heaven. Because of our sinful nature, there isn’t anything we can’t do that is good enough to make up the difference we need. Therefore, through Jesus, we were MADE the righteousness of God IN Him. All glory goes to Jesus!

However, that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t strive for righteousness. Because of the grace of God given to us, we should strive to live righteously. This means that we do everything in our power to live a life pleasing to God – obeying His Word.

I’m so glad that we don’t have to keep the law as they did before Jesus. We now have two commandments to observe – love God and love others. We are to love God with everything in us, not just give lip service. But our actions should reflect that love. Likewise, we are to love others with the same love that God has lavished on us. That means walking in forgiveness, patience, and kindness. We are to grow in the fruit of the spirit and let that fruit be evident to those we come in contact with.

As you go about your day, ask yourself where you can improve on the commandments we have been given to love God with all our heart, mind, and strength and love our neighbor as ourselves.

Dear Lord, thank you for your love toward me. I purpose to share that love with others today. Amen.
