Bless Your Way to a Victory

Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. Romans 12:14

Don’t you wish the Bible didn’t have so much to say about loving your enemies? It feels unnatural and strange to do good to those who mistreat you. However, loving and blessing those who persecute us isn’t about responding naturally but supernaturally. When we do things God’s way (in love), it allows us to let God work.

Romans 12:17-21 goes on to say, “Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, ‘Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says the Lord. Therefore, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; If he is thirsty, give him a drink; For in so doing you will heap coals of fire on his head.’ Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”

It said, “if possible, as much as depends on you...” We can’t control others and certainly can’t control what they say and do. The only person we can control is ourselves. The thing we have to remember is that God loves us. The scripture above says, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay.” God will work it out if we let Him. That’s how we overcome evil with good.

Don’t let the devil get the satisfaction of stealing your peace and joy. Resist him by doing good and blessing those who persecute you. As the scripture says, it’s like heaping coals of fire on his head. Overcome evil with good today.

Dear Lord, thank you for your Word. Help me see situations from a spiritual perspective and overcome adversity by doing good. Amen.
