On the Table

Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. Psalms 1:1-2

Blessed is the man OR woman. The word man here simply means the human race. Again, we find the blessing on the table, so-to-speak, available for anyone who will take delight in the Word of God. Which means to read it, listen to it, and obey it.

The blessing isn’t just something we can or should live without. It really shouldn’t even be an option for us to take or not. We need the blessing of God in our lives to override the curse that is in the world. Too many Christians are leaving the blessing on the table. They go about their day fumbling from one thing to another, wondering where Jesus is in their situation.

Well, Jesus IS the blessing. If we want more of Him, it is up to us to make the adjustment to draw closer. Verse 3 gives a picture of the blessing. It says, “He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”

Fruitful, healthy, prosperous. Let me ask you, are those things you want to live without? Not me. I want my life to bear good fruit and make a positive difference to those around me. I want to remain healthy and strong – spirit, soul, and body. And I want whatever I do to be prosperous so that my days and resources aren’t wasted.

Again, the blessing isn’t an add-on to your Christian walk that you should take or leave. We need THE BLESSING –Jesus, in and on our lives. We are called to live and abide in Him so that we can live abundant lives and help those around us live abundant lives as well.

Don’t leave the blessing of God on the table. Abide in Jesus and take full advantage of what is available for you today.

Dear Lord, help me separate myself from the world and cling to the Word who is Jesus and live in Him – the BLESSING today. Amen.
