Be Strong and Courageous

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Many times in our lives, we feel discouraged, unsure, nervous, weak, and afraid. Fear of the unknown stops us in our tracks from moving forward. This was the case for the children of Israel. Joshua had to give them a little pep talk.

Although the children of Israel had witnessed God’s miraculous power and provision time and time again, fear stopped them in their tracks. They knew there were giants in the land they were to conquer. I don’t blame them for being afraid, do you? But they had the promise that God was with them.

David was able to defeat Goliath because he knew that God was on his side. Likewise, whatever giant you have standing in your way is no match when you have God with you. Think about that. If you have asked Jesus into your heart, you have the Holy Spirit, God’s power, dwelling on the inside of you. He will guide and direct your steps and give you what you need when you need it.

The key is to take the first step. When the children of Israel began to obey God’s commandment, they had victory after victory. If we obey God and do our part in the natural, He will bring the supernatural to cause a victory in your life as well.

The next time a challenge reveals itself in your life, take this verse to heart. “Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Dear Lord, thank you for your promise to be with me and never leave my side. I push away the fear in my life and move forward with your strength and courage today. Amen.
