Just Say Jesus
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Isn’t this verse good news? It can seem like the world is falling apart, and you are hit on every side. But be encouraged that no matter how it feels, the truth is you are not defeated. I like what one of my pastors used to say, “I cannot be defeated and I will not quit!”
God will never quit on you. He sent His Son, Jesus, so that we could be victorious in every area of life. The devil will try to tell you that it’s hopeless, but don’t you listen. There is always hope and a way of escape if you don’t give up.
The devil has worked overtime to discourage people into thinking they would be better off giving up – that the only way to end their pain is to end their life. But here’s the thing about the devil, he’s a lier. There isn’t any truth in him. If he tells you there’s no hope, you know the opposite is true. There is always hope in Jesus.
1 Corinthians 10:13 says, “but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” Even if it looks like there is no way of escape from turmoil in your life, God promises that He will make a way of escape for you.
Simply speaking the name of Jesus will turn your situation around. When you don’t know what to say and don’t know what to do, just say, Jesus. He will meet you where you’re at and bring the peace and comfort you need.
Dear Lord, thank you for providing a way of escape where there seems to be no way. I know I will make it through with you by my side. Amen.
