In Jesus Name
The name of the Lord is a strong tower; The righteous run to it and are safe. Proverbs 18:10
There is no other name greater than the Name of Jesus. It says in Philippians 2:9, "God has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name."
Think about it. If something has a name, Jesus' Name is above it. I think of playing cards. The high card beats out other cards (depending on the game you're playing). It's usually an ace – the highest card in the deck that trumps any other card. Jesus is your "ace." His Name beats anything that is "played" against you in this life.
Proverbs 18:10 reminds me of another game I used to play as a child, which is tag. When we would play tag, we would have someplace designated as the "safe spot." If you were touching the "safe spot," whoever was "it" couldn't touch you. This verse says that Jesus' Name is like that safe spot. It says, "the righteous run to it and are safe." The best part is that you don't even have to leave the safety of His Name.
However, just like the game of tag, whoever is "it" will try to keep you from safety. And that is what the devil is trying to do. He is doing everything in his arsenal of tricks to get you to forget about running to your safety spot.
Jesus is there just the same, telling you to come to Him. In Matthew 11:28, Jesus reminds us, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." He will not only provide safety, but He will give you rest. And best of all, when we use His Name, every demon in hell must flee! Whatever you are facing, use the Name of Jesus, the Name above every other name, and you will have victory!
Dear Lord, I thank you that I can find rest and safety in the Name of Jesus. I have the victory in His Name! Amen.
