Hope in the Lord
Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart, All you who hope in the Lord. Psalm 31:24
Life with God is always better than life without Him. The enemy tries everything in his power to make it seem like being a Christian is boring and all about rules that stifle your freedom. But the truth is if you are living sold out to God, your life is anything but boring. In fact, true freedom is only found in Him.
If it seems like the world is against you, this verse says that He will strengthen your heart when you hope in Him. That doesn’t mean that you are wishful that He will help you. Some people misinterpret what the word hope means because we use that word to mean wishing for something.
However, Biblical hope means an earnest, intense expectation that what He has said in His Word, He will perform for you. The definition of faith in Hebrews 11:1 says, “Faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things not seen.” Faith is the substance of what you earnestly, intensely expect from the Word of God.
Each hero of faith in Hebrews 11 didn’t just wish for God to work on their behalf, but they expected Him to do so. That’s why we can be of good courage and strengthen our hearts when we put our faith and trust in God. We can be confident that He is there for us and will help and sustain us through life’s storms.
Dear Lord, thank you for being my hope and my strength. I trust you because I know you are faithful. Amen.
