Promise of Peace
Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. John 14:27
This verse is such a wonderful promise to us. Whether you face a challenging situation or deal with ongoing anxiety, the promise of God's peace is the same. Jesus gives us His peace – the peace that passes all understanding. That means that you feel at peace in the middle of a storm.
The world's idea of peace is taking a long bubble bath and lighting a candle. And although those things are great for a little pick-me-up, that doesn't produce lasting peace. Peace is not the absence of conflict or hard things going on. Peace is the current that carries you through so you don't get stuck in the middle. Not only does His peace help get you through the tough times, but He gives wisdom on how to navigate whatever it is you're dealing with.
Peace and courage go hand in hand. You really can't have one without the other. To be courageous, you must have calm confidence (faith) that God is with you, and you can do all things through Him who gives you strength. (Phillippians 4:19) You are assured that God has gone before you, is beside you, and will never leave you. He is there to guide you every step of the way.
We need to refuse to let our hearts be anxious or afraid. How do we do that?
Read the Bible consistently.
Develop a constant prayer life where you talk with God all day long.
Worship and praise Him. Remember the times He has been faithful to you and thank Him.
Trust and Obey what He tells you to do
Remember that God's peace is with you, so don't let your heart be afraid.
Dear Lord, thank you for your peace that passes all understanding in my life today. Amen.
