All to the Glory of God
Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31
Some might think that a verse like this one is radical! Is it possible to let everything you do be to the glory of God? I know I’m not there yet, but it’s certainly something to strive for. God cares about everything about us and wants us to be healthy in every area of our lives.
Years ago, I was having some problems with my digestion. I was constantly bloated and just didn’t feel right. I knew it had something to do with my diet but wasn’t sure what it was. Well, God knows everything about us, so I asked Him what was happening. I felt Him telling me that dairy and greasy or oily foods were the culprits. I then sought out a dietician and told her my symptoms. She confirmed what I had already felt God telling me.
God truly cares about every aspect of who we are. However, now that I have the information, I have the choice of staying away from those types of foods or not. I admit, for the most part, I have been good about my food and drink choices. The after-effects of consuming what I shouldn’t is motivation! But there are other times that my flesh gets the best of me. I crave what I shouldn’t have and succumb to those temptations way too often. I know I’m not giving glory to God by rebelling from what He has revealed to me.
Thankfully, we have God’s grace and forgiveness that picks us up and sets us on the right path once again. Don’t get into condemnation about finding yourself off track. Ask God for forgiveness and grace to help you make those good choices once again.
Dear Lord, I pray for wisdom with what I eat and drink. Help me discern and avoid things that aren’t good for me. Thank you for your grace and forgiveness. Amen.
