Bought With a Price
For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. 1 Corinthians 6:20
As I was scrolling through Facebook today, I came across a friend’s post that said, “It’s crazy how I adore women of all body sizes and shapes but I can’t accept my own.” What a sad but true statement for many of us. We are our own worst enemy – putting down what God created.
However, you and I were bought with a price – the price of the blood of Jesus. He laid down His own body, was tormented in His soul, and became sin taking our place in hell. He did that out of love because you are worth that price.
I think it’s time that we accept God’s love for us by living right and glorifying God in the body He gave us. We do that by being a good steward of the body we were given. Speak to yourself kindly. Don’t call yourself dumb or stupid. Don’t speak negatively about your body to yourself or anyone else. Adopt the old saying, “if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.”
Take care of your body by getting proper sleep and rest and fueling it correctly. We can’t expect our bodies to operate like they should when we abuse them. Remember that you – spirit, soul, and body, were bought with a price. Value your body the way Jesus does. What can you do today to change how you view or treat yourself?
Dear Lord, help to see me the way You do. Help me recognize my value and worth and take care of myself as a reflection of that value. Amen.
