Renew Your Youth
Who satisfies your mouth with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagles. Psalm 103:5
Do you want to know the secret to staying young? There really is a fountain of youth, but it’s not what you may think. In John 4, Jesus tells the woman at the well about a fountain of living water. Jesus says in verse 14, “but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Our “fountain of youth” and life is in Jesus. Our verse for today talks about your mouth being satisfied with good things. Have you ever wondered what that means? When we speak the Word of God, we are filling our mouths with good things. And John 1 tells us that the Word became flesh. Jesus is the Word. Therefore, when we are found in Him, we have all we need, and our youth is renewed like the eagles.
Isaiah 40:29-31 in the Amplified Bible gives more insight into this verse. It says, “He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound]. [2 Cor. 12:9.] Even youths shall faint and be weary, and [selected] young men shall feebly stumble and fall exhausted; But those who wait for the Lord [ who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall walk and not faint or become tired. [Heb. 12:1-3]
I don’t know about you, but not becoming weary and tired sounds pretty good! Have you ever thought it would be nice to bottle up the energy of a toddler? Well, the Word might not give you that much energy, but it will renew your energy, so you can do what you need to!
Dear Lord, thank You for your Word and the promise that it will renew my energy and strength. I apply Your Word to my life and draw from its life-giving power today. Amen.
