Comfort That Delights the Soul

In the multitude of my anxieties within me, Your comforts delight my soul. Psalm 94:19

This Psalm was written by either Moses or David, neither of whom you would associate with high anxiety. The point is, no one knows completely what another person is going through. Outside, someone may appear totally put together, but inside they could be a total train wreck.

It is interesting to me that the psalmist went right to God for comfort and didn't spend time rehearsing the problems. That is a great lesson for us. The anxieties took place in the soulish realm, the mind and emotions, and that is where God's comfort came. He didn't dwell on the problems, but centered his attention on God.

You know that Moses and David had problems, but that wasn't the focus of either man. Both men made the choice to look to God for help and stayed in that place of comfort when everything around them was falling apart.
