Strength From the Inside Out

But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

To be truly healthy means to have health in your spirit, soul, and body. For so long, society has addressed each category by itself. We go to church and read our Bible for spiritual health. We put exercise and diet in another category and have just begun to really talk about mental health or the health of our soul, which is our mind, will, and emotions.

I believe this verse addresses all three parts of who we are. The amplified Bible says the verse this way, “But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renew their strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be wary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.”

There is a cause and effect going on when you wait on the Lord. When we change our focus and look to God, strength, and power for our bodies and minds will follow. Verse 29 says, “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might He increases strength.”

If you want to increase in strength, start from the inside out! Keep your focus on Jesus and keep Him first place in your life. Strengthen your spirit through reading the Word and listening to sermons and praise and worship. Then obey the Lord in regards to your body. Exercise and eat the foods God created, and you will increase your strength and power! You will run and not be weary, and walk and not faint!

Dear Lord, I look to You for my strength from the inside out. As I wait on You, I know that you are renewing my strength today. Amen.
