White Lies

I think we all have some trouble in this area. See how easy that is? It sounds innocent enough, but I don't even know everybody so how can I even make such a statement?

The other day, I found myself telling a customer I had about 20 of a certain item. The truth is I had 19, so why was it so difficult to say 19? This tug of war was going on in my head, and I finally said 19. I have had a tendency to speak in general turns and not specific terms. I have determined to stop that and have been working on it.

The Bible says to let your yes be yes and your no, no. I think sometimes we don't want to do something but we don't want to let people down so we say things like "I'll try", when we really have no intention of doing whatever it is we are asked to do. To say something other than yes or no is actually a lie.
